please help me choose the perfect tennis racket?
i currently use the babolat pure drive team racket which is 98" head size and weighs 320g.
the problem i have with my game/racket is that i really have a hard time keeping the ball in play. if i want to do a forearm drive (or backhand for that matter) the ball flies off the court. any shot i do, i can't keep the ball in play.
its not that i'm that useless, i am very good player at badminton and squash but when it comes to tennis, too much power is generated.
now, i need your help to find me a racket that won't be too heavy and will allow me to play full strokes without me having to limit the power myself and at the same time, the racket can have a full aggressive swing.
sorry its a bit long winded, let me know if you need to know anything more. the cost of the racket can be in any range!
It sounds like you still need some instruction to correct your tennis form. Being a good Badminton player does not mean you'll be a good tennis player right away. The Babolat Pure Drive is a good racquet, but it is known to generate a little too much power. I'd recommend getting it restrung at a higher tension (60-62 pounds) for a little extra control. And consider taking some group tennis lessons/clinics, private lessons, or even a community college class to improve your tennis form mechanics. I'm guessing that you are hitting the tennis ball very flat, with too much wrist movement. You're going to need to learn how to lock the wrist at contact, and follow through to get some topspin going. A lighter racquet won't help you - that will just make your stroke faster, more powerful, and more difficult to control. If you do change racquets (and I don't think you need to), go with a smaller head, like that of the Wilson Ktour or Ntour (95). Good luck.
