Whats the difference between the Babolat Hurricanes?
I was wondering what the difference is between the Babolat Hurricane strings? The tour comes in either a 16 or 17 gauge, and the pro goes all the way up to an 18 gauge. Are there any noticeable differences between the three? And is the tour better than the pro? If I could afford it I would simply try them all out, but I'm not made of money!
The numbers that you refer to of 16, 17 & 18 refer to string gauge or thickness. Surprisingly, the larger the number the smaller the string diameter. Roddick uses the 18 which is super thin, but good for control & will possibly feel softer to the touch. However, the smallest string will most likely be the least durable.
The Pro Hurricane Tour strings have an octagonal profile which "bite"in to the ball giving extra spin, & these would be classed as the better of the two types of string. I would get these in a 17 gauge personally, as they would be the pick of the bunch. These allegedly are used by Nadal, but I am not so sure.
