Preserving my Old Tennis racket?

I bought a used babolat pure drive for 60. It's an awesome racket. Great pop and everything. But the grommet is worn pretty badly. Well I guess the grommet can be replaced for $5. But much of the rim edge's paint is gone. So I'm wondering whether I should apply guard tape on the rip to prevent possible weathering and abrasion of the racket. Or should I just leave it be?
Also, would it be a good deal for me to buy a used pure storm babolat racket for 75-80? I would use it as a backup. I know that if I'm using the pure drive, then I should stick with the pure drive as a back up too. But for me, tennis rackets within the same caliber are pretty much all good. It's nearly brand new. Just a bunch of scratches on the frame.

sportshops have ways, i too have a worn out racket once, i have shopped and they repainted it.
